Below you will find answers to some of the questions I am frequently asked. If you're still unsure about anything, feel free to reach out.

What does ‘integrative therapy’ mean? Integrative psychotherapy means combining different theories and approaches to understand human suffering and the process of therapeutic change. I practice integratively because I believe no single model can fully explain each client’s unique experience or meet their individual needs. My approach draws on psychodynamic, attachment and person-centred theories, among others. I place particular importance on building a safe, trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship, which is central to healing and change.

I worry my problems are too small for therapy. Many clients worry their problems aren't as 'bad' as other people's. As a therapist, it’s not for me to judge whether your feelings are justified. If it bothers you and causes you pain, then it’s worth exploring with curiosity and compassion. In my experience, things that appear ‘small’ at first often offer a window into long-standing patterns of relating to yourself and others.

How do I book a session? If you'd like to book an initial consultation, you can contact me via email, text or using the contact form on the website, stating your preferred location (Archway or Angel). I will get back to you within 48 hours with some suggested dates and times to meet.

What happens during the first session? During our initial meeting, we will discuss what’s led you to seek therapy and your hopes and expectations. I may ask you questions about your history and current difficulties to get an understanding of how we might work together. More importantly, the first session is an opportunity for you to see whether you feel comfortable with me and address any questions or concerns you may have. You are under no obligation to me, and you can take as long as you need to decide whether you’d like to continue. If we agree we’re not the right fit for each other, I will signpost you to other sources of support if possible.

How long will I need therapy? This is quite difficult to answer, as it will depend on your aims for therapy and how our work unfolds. Some clients choose to have open-ended weekly sessions, while others prefer to agree on a set number of sessions with regular reviews. This is something we can decide together at the start of our work. Of course you can choose to end therapy at any time. I ask however that you give appropriate notice so we can process the ending together.

Do we have to meet weekly? In short, yes. In my experience, I have found that weekly sessions are essential to build the trust, momentum and continuity necessary for therapy to be effective. Once our work is under way, we may however agree on different arrangements if suitable.

Is therapy confidential? Yes, whatever you share with me stays in the room. The only exception is in the unlikely event of a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, in which case I may need to break confidentiality. I will always seek to discuss this with you first.

Do you offer concessionary fees? I have limited slots at a reduced fee for clients on low incomes, usually during the daytime. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss this.

Do you offer online sessions? I don't work exclusively online. However, I understand it may not always be possible for clients to attend every session in-person, for example due to work or caring commitments. In these cases, I am open to arranging some online sessions to accommodate this.

Do you accept private insurance? Yes I am registered with Axa, Aviva and WPA. Please contact me for more details.
